Proton Theatre received 7.5 million Forints in 2023 as operational support, which is about half as much as we received before. We haven’t received additional operational support for the second year in a row, and since we haven’t had any guest performances abroad this year, we have no other income... In order not having to pay back the 7.5 million Forints of operational support – even though it does not cover our costs – we must produce at least one new show and must play at least 15 performances for at least 2000 viewers until the 29th of February 2024, the end of the tender period. Thus, we named our 2023/24 season The Olympics of Survival. The question is whether we will manage to survive. Stay tuned!
