The 75th and Final Performance of Hard to Be a God - Will not be continued

Launched in Brussels in May 2010, Hard to Be a God has since toured Europe and Australia. In a few weeks' time, we will be pulling up the canvases on the sides of our trucks for the last time.

This is both a celebration and a farewell. It's been more than 11 years since we, as Proton Theatre, presented our first self-produced international co-production, directed by Kornél Mundruczó. After the premiere of the Frankenstein-project in Brussels, we were given a chance, and we spared no time, energy, effort or creativity in creating something: an exciting, sometimes brutal, yet compelling work that is as relevant today – if not more so – than it was then. Hard to Be a God was also a decision that set us on a path that we are still on today: the path of freedom and the uncertainty that comes along with it.

At the end of August, we will be celebrating with you not only the 75th performance and the 11 years behind it, but also all the human and spiritual value that Hard to Be a God has generated for our theatre.

Thank you to the Örkény Theatre for making these performances possible in collaboration with us.
And thanks to everyone who has marched with us and alongside us on this journey over the years, and continues to do so today.

And especially to you:
