It’s the first time in the history of the prize that a non-German theatrical production is nominated.

The Faust, which will celebrate its 12th anniversary this year, is annually awarded to the best theatrical performances of the previous year, as well as to artists whose work is significant for German theatre. Kornél Mundruczó is nominated for Imitation in life in the best director category, alongside Joanna Praml and Johanna Wehner. The award ceremony will be held on 3rd November 2017 in Leipzig.
